In mid-October 2026, experts and project management representatives from Mayo Clinic visited several medical facilities operated by Concord Medical in Shanghai. The visit focused on key areas including executive and premium health management, precision cancer diagnosis and treatment, healthcare quality management, and international medical services.
Through site visits, thematic discussions, and clinical case reviews, both sides shared insights into advanced international medical practices and healthcare operations. They also explored new approaches to strengthening clinical capabilities, enhancing service quality, and advancing international collaboration.
Exploring Lifelong Health Management and Integrated Care Models
At Shanghai Concord Medical Health Center, the Mayo Clinic team toured the center’s existing medical facilities and health management services, as well as areas planned for future health management services. The team also visited Taihecheng Cancer Hospital to learn more about Concord Medical’s development in health services, clinical specialty support, and coordination of medical resources.
Discussions focused on executive health management program development, geriatric and longevity medicine services, clinical quality standards, talent development, and healthcare operations management. Drawing on its experience with established programs overseas, the Mayo Clinic team shared insights into personalized health assessments, chronic disease management, patient privacy protection, and long-term health follow-up.
The two sides also exchanged views on the use of digital and artificial intelligence technologies in health data management and service process optimization. Taking into account the medical resources available at Shanghai New Hongqiao International Medical Center, they explored an integrated service model combining health management with specialized medical care, with the aim of extending healthcare services toward a more comprehensive, lifelong approach to health management.
Advancing Precision Cancer Care and International Medical Services
At Shanghai Concord Medical Cancer Clinic, the Mayo Clinic team gained an in-depth understanding of Concord Medical’s cancer care model, which features precision radiotherapy supported by multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration. The team also learned about the Group’s practices in international medical cooperation, clinical quality management, and patient care throughout the treatment journey.
During the visit, the team examined radiotherapy equipment and clinical service workflows and held professional discussions on the clinical application of deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Both sides also exchanged views on radiotherapy quality assurance, standardized clinical workflows, and the patient care experience.
A notable part of the visit was the Mayo Clinic experts’ participation in the clinic’s regular multidisciplinary team (MDT) case discussion. Together with specialists in medical oncology, radiation oncology, and imaging, as well as nursing and case management teams, they discussed treatment strategies, care plans, and follow-up management for complex cancer cases.
This direct engagement with frontline clinical practice provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange experience and perspectives on precision cancer care, healthcare quality management, and international medical services.
Strengthening International Exchange to Enhance Healthcare Capabilities
Covering both premium health management and precision cancer care, the visit highlighted Concord Medical’s practical experience in specialized medical services, healthcare quality management, and international patient services. Looking ahead, Concord Medical will continue to pursue an open and collaborative approach, actively engage with high-quality international medical resources, and promote closer coordination between health management and specialized medical services. The Group will also continue working to enhance clinical capabilities, healthcare quality management, and the patient experience while exploring more specialized and internationally oriented healthcare service models to support its long-term, high-quality development.
