From March 23 to 24, 2026, Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center (GCCC) welcomed a delegation of medical representatives from Bangladesh. This exchange aimed to foster in-depth dialogue on core topics such as precision oncology technologies and international medical service collaboration, jointly exploring practical pathways for cooperation in the healthcare sector, particularly in cancer prevention and control.

Distinguished guests attending the relevant events included Li Yanfeng, Deputy Director of the Medical Administration Division of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission; Lin Dongyong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Guangzhou Huangpu District Health Bureau; Wu Chen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Lingnan Holdings, Chairman and President of GZL; Yu Suihong, Assistant General Manager of the Operation Management Center of Lingnan Holdings; and Chen Xi, Head of Customer Service at Guangzhou International Medical Tourism Service Center Co., Ltd. Representing Guangzhou Concord were Zhang Chengyu, Vice President of Concord Medical Group and General Manager of Guangzhou Concord Cancer Hospital; Qian Chaonan, President of the hospital; Li Junwen, Vice President; Fu Shen, Vice President; along with other hospital leaders who participated in the reception and engaged in in-depth discussions with the Bangladesh delegation.

Connecting Needs through Precision Alignmenth

On the afternoon of March 23, accompanied by President Qian Chaonan, the delegation toured GCCC’s facilities and key departments. They gained insights into the center's advancements in precision oncology, international medical service systems, and the clinical application of South China’s first proton therapy system.

During the subsequent exchange session, Deputy Director Li Yanfeng of the Municipal Health Commission stated in his speech that Guangzhou, as a national central city and a leading medical hub in South China, is actively advancing international medical tourism and cross-border medical collaboration. He noted that the visit of the Bangladesh delegation provides a significant opportunity for cooperation between the two sides in areas such as international medical referrals, technology sharing, specialized talent exchange, and alignment of diagnosis and treatment standards. Lin Dongyong, Director of the Huangpu District Health Bureau, introduced the high-quality medical resources concentrated in Huangpu District and the future plans to build an international medical service platform. He stated that such initiatives are expected to provide overseas patients with comprehensive support, including visa assistance, as well as accommodation, interpretation, meals, transportation, and city tours during their treatment period.

Representatives from the Bangladeshi delegation introduced their respective institutions and shared their expectations for future collaboration. M. M. Masumuzzaman, CEO and Co-Founder of SEOK, highlighted his 13 years of experience in medical consulting, air ambulance services, and international patient coordination, and expressed his interest in strengthening cooperation with Chinese medical institutions, particularly Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center.

Fahima Jahan, Deputy Director of Bangladesh’s Directorate of Mass Communication (DMC), outlined the department’s functions and resources in public health communication and social and behavioral change initiatives, and expressed interest in working with the hospital on public education and outreach in healthcare.

During the subsequent free exchange session, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics such as oncology resource alignment, patient referral mechanisms, medical insurance support, and sustainable cooperation models. The Bangladesh representatives noted that Bangladesh currently has a significant demand for advanced cancer treatment equipment and expressed hope to leverage Guangzhou Concord's cutting-edge facilities and medical technology advantages to provide more treatment options for patients in their country.

On the morning of March 24, the meeting focused on a specialized discussion of proton therapy technology. Fu Shen, Vice President of Guangzhou Concord, gave a presentation titled "Introduction to Proton Therapy," systematically explaining the physical principles and clinical advantages of proton therapy. He emphasized its ability to precisely target tumors while protecting normal tissues and introduced the hospital's contributions to research and clinical standardization in this field. He stressed that cooperation between China and Bangladesh in cancer treatment holds the potential to advance from passive treatment towards curative goals.

Professor Zheng Yuanshui gave a presentation on "Proton Technology and Physics," detailing the technical parameters of the proton therapy equipment, the workflow of multi-modality image guidance, and the quality control system.

In the afternoon, the discussion shifted to international medical and referral service practices. M. M. Masumuzzaman from SEOK presented an "Analysis of the International Medical and Referral Market," analyzing the current state of Bangladesh's medical tourism market and patient needs, and proposing cooperation strategies for Chinese hospitals entering this market. Representatives from Guangzhou Concord showcased their "Comprehensive International Medical Service Process," covering everything from remote preliminary assessments and online consultations for overseas patients to arrival in Guangzhou, admission services, treatment, and post-discharge support. Wu Chen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Lingnan Holdings, shared the group's extensive experience and capability in integrating urban service resources, providing international patients with one-stop support services including interpretation, transportation, meals, and accommodation.

At the conclusion of the visit, MD Abudl Jalil, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication of Bangladesh, gave a closing speech. He reviewed the long-standing friendly relations between China and Bangladesh and highly commended Guangzhou Concord for its advanced medical equipment, internationalized and high-quality service system, and professional medical team. He also offered constructive suggestions for improving the medical experience of Bangladesh patients in China. He noted the vast potential of the global medical tourism market and urged both sides to seize the opportunity to jointly promote deeper cooperation in areas such as cancer prevention and treatment and international medical service collaboration, ultimately providing patients with better medical options and choices.
