The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area continues to deepen medical exchanges. Following the visit to Hong Kong’s Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, on March 17, Professor Qian Chaonan, President of Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, together with a group of outstanding hospital staff, once again visited a hospital in Hong Kong—this time, the CUHK Medical Centre.

With the support of Prof. Philip Chiu, President of CUHK Medical Centre, Prof. Hong Fung, Chief Executive Officer of CUHK Medical Centre, received the delegation from Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center. Prof. Fung gave a detailed introduction to the history and philosophy of CUHK Medical Centre and shared insights into the hospital’s operations.

Accompanied by Prof. Fung, the delegation visited various departments of the hospital, including inpatient wards, the ICU, the pharmacy, pathology, central sterilization, the sports medicine center, and outpatient services. During the tour, Prof. Fung and CUHK Medical Centre staff introduced the hospital’s advanced facilities and patient-centered service philosophy. Staff also provided in-depth answers to topics of interest raised by the visiting team. The hospital’s innovative management model, high level of digitalization, compassionate care processes, inspiring creative initiatives, and meticulous clinical services all left a deep impression

The Guangzhou Concord delegation remarked that the exchange not only broadened their medical horizons but also represented a profound practice of the hospital’s mission and vision. Throughout the interaction, the team experienced new sparks of ideas, which will help shape a warmer and more insightful approach to cancer care.

CUHK Medical Centre, opened in 2021, is a high-end, non-profit private hospital wholly owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The 14-storey hospital building provides nearly 100,000 square meters of medical space, with 516 planned inpatient beds, 23 day-surgery beds, 28 operating theatres, 49 consultation rooms, and 16 specialty departments.

At the conclusion of the visit, Professor Qian Chaonan, President of Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, presented a gift to CUHK Medical Centre on behalf of the hospital. Both parties agreed to further discussions and exchanges on deepening collaboration between the two institutions, leveraging their respective strengths to contribute to the advancement of healthcare in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
