Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, a renowned international medical institution, was established in 1922 and is one of Hong Kong's leading private general hospitals. It is well known across Asia for its high-quality healthcare services, advanced medical technology, and professional service standards. The hospital currently has multiple specialized centers, including those for surgery, internal medicine, integrated oncology, cardiology, radiology, radiotherapy, X-ray cardiovascular angiography, catheterization, obstetrics and gynecology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, and more.
In 2023, the hospital officially opened the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital Proton Therapy Centre, offering internationally leading proton therapy technology for cancer patients. Since its opening, the center's team has successfully completed over 300 proton therapy cases, covering various cancer types, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, and lymphoma.

Proton therapy is regarded as the "crown jewel" in the field of oncological radiotherapy. As a high-end cancer specialty hospital based in Guangdong Province, Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center is also equipped with globally leading proton therapy systems. The implementation of proton therapy at both institutions offers more high-quality treatment options for cancer patients in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center and Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital have previously established a strong relationship of communication and collaboration. In the view of Professor Qian Chaonan, President of Guangzhou Concord Cancer Center, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital has a century-long history and is one of the most outstanding medical institutions in Hong Kong. Guangzhou Concord, dedicated to becoming a leader in medical technology and medical humanities, has deep collaborations with MD Anderson Cancer Center and Mayo Clinic, embodying a natural international gene. The active exchanges and mutual learning between the two institutions not only help advance proton therapy technology but also contribute to the improvement of healthcare standards in the Greater Bay Area.
